Estepona

Estepona is located about 20 minutes south of Puerto Banus, with a fertile Mediterranean valley on one side and the Sierra Bermeja mountain range on the other. Estepona is known for its beautiful beaches, which stretch along the entire 21 km long coastline. Because of its geographical location, surrounded by sea and mountains, Estepona has a micro – climate with over 325 days of sunshine a year, making Estepona an attractive destination all year round.

Estepona has a modern marina with a selection of good tapas bars and restaurants and a charming town centre with lots of shops and picturesque squares. The port of Estepona is a working fishing harbor where daily auctions take place, for a wide variety of seafood. The harbor is also home to Estepona’s Sunday market.

Just over 20 minutes from the city center is Selwo Safari Park, designed like an African safari parks which houses 2,000 animals. Also in Estepona, is the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones which is an Exhibition and Convention Centre, located opposite the supermarket in the eastern part of the city, towards Marbella. The congress center is home to most of the city’s organized events including product presentations, trade fairs, commercial exhibitions, concerts and much more.

Playa del Cristo is a beach five minutes west of Estepona Port, where there is a small cove with lifeguards and two ‘chiringuitos’ or beach bars. La Rada Beach is two minutes east of Estepona Marina and is over 1.5 km long, stretching from the marina, past Estepona Old Town. West of Estepona, there is also a popular naturist/nudist beach called Costa Natura, which was the first official naturist site in Spain.

Estepona is not known for its vibrant night life which exists elsewhere on the Costa del Sol, but is a quieter, perhaps more family friendly area. The city has, however, a large and wide variety of bars and restaurants, with menus dominated by locally caught seafood and local Spanish dishes. Most restaurants are located near the seafront, either along the main promenade to the sea or along Calle Real and tend to be affordable.

There are many golf courses around Estepona including Estepona Golf , Valle Romano Golf Club, La Duquesa Golf & Country Club, La Resina Golf & Country Club, El Paraíso Golf Club, Finca Cortesin (organizer of the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2010 and 2012), and Dona Julia Resort.
