Marbella Town & Golden Mile

Marbella Centro

Marbella

Marbella is both a city and a municipality, located in the province of Malaga in Andalucía, Southern Spain. Marbella is famous for its dry and warm climate with over 300 sunny days a year, reason why it is called ‘Costa del Sol.’ Besides warmth and good beaches, Marbella also offers an impressive selection of Golf Courses (over 50 courses) and several marinas with sumptuous yachts; Puerto Banus being the most famous. Marbella really has it all; top of the range sports cars, impressive apartments and mansions, exclusive shops, a vibrant restaurant and nightlife, but also a magnificent landscape with high mountains and beautiful white villages where time has stood still for hundreds of years.
Within excursion distance is Gibraltar, from where you can take a ferry to Tangier in Morocco; the beautiful city of Seville; Ronda, one of Spain’s oldest cities and Granada, where one can spend the day visiting the Alhambra Palace or skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Marbella has easy access from Malaga airport via the AP-7 motorway. The airport has a vast selection of car rental companies, taxis and there are also frequent bus service to Malaga and Marbella.

From Malaga airport, Marbella is no more than 45 minutes by car. Marbella has 27 kilometers of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea, which is divided into 24 beaches of different qualities. Most beaches have moderate waves and golden to dark sand. Playa La Venus and Playa de la Fontanilla are located on the Golden Mile towards Marbella and are very popular beaches.

The beaches of Puerto Banus and San Pedro Alcántara have been awarded the Blue Flag, an environmental certification for marinas and beaches from the Foundation for Environmental Education. For visitors, the blue flag amongst other things, provides reassurance that the beaches have clean water, are environmentally friendly, with adequate toilet facilities that are cleaned regularly.
